    This manual describes how to use JW Smart Tune and is intended for sales agents and professionals who work with assistive technology, such as doctors, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.

Any disputes, controversies, and/or difficulties that may arise between the parties out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be settled amicably between the parties. In the event such amicable settlement cannot be reached within a reasonable time, such dispute shall be determined by arbitration to be held in Tokyo, Japan by the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association pursuant to its arbitration rules.

    2 Installing and Uninstalling JW Smart Tune Installation Depending on the settings of your PC, a [User Account Control] dialog box may appear when installing or uninstalling the application. Proceeding with the installation or uninstallation will not cause any problems. Select [Yes] to continue.
  • Page 9 2 Installing and Uninstalling JW Smart Tune The screen for entering user information will appear. In the [Serial Number] field, enter the following serial number: • t5p-58255-36286 (for making adjustments to both the Joystick model and the Servo model) • t5p-58255-3628c (for making adjustments to the Servo model only) The name in the [Name] field is entered by default.
  • Page 10 Be sure to read the contents of the License Agreement. If you agree with the terms and would like to install the driver, select [I Agree] and then [Next]. Once the finish screen appears, driver installation is complete. A “JW Smart Tune” shortcut icon should have been created on your desktop.

    Once the progress window closes, application uninstallation is complete. The folder where the application is installed (default setting: C:\Program Files\ YamahaMotor\JW Smart Tune) may remain undeleted if it is open during uninstallation. When uninstalling the application, be sure to first close the application, settings file, folder, etc.

For PC and Bluetooth adapter settings and usage, refer to the user manuals of your PC and Bluetooth adapter.

Connect the communication cable (blue) to the Interface UNIT and to the wheelchair.

    Joystick model Servo model 3 Common Operations Starting the Application Run the JW Smart Tune shortcut icon on your desktop, or select [YamahaMotor] > [JW Smart Tune] > [JWSmartTune.exe] from the [Start] menu.     Version Selecting [Version] from the menu bar of each window allows you to check the version information of the JW Smart Tune application. Exiting the Application Selecting [File] > [Exit] from the menu bar of each window or pressing the Close button on the upper right area displays an exit confirmation message.

    4 Operating Joystick model Setting the Communication Port In the default settings of JW Smart Tune, once the menu window starts, the confirmation window is displayed for automatic reading of the wheelchair’s data, and a connection is established. To disable reading on startup, go to [Communication] and uncheck [Auto-read the wheelchair driving parameters when ST connected].

    Joystick model 4 Operating Joystick model Changing the Settings After selecting a menu, load the setting data of the wheelchair using the icon or the menu bar, with the line status displayed in blue (connected). Skip steps 1 and 2 if a connection is established and reading is performed on window startup.

    Joystick model 4 Operating Joystick model Saving and Recalling Setting Data 4.4.1 Saving Setting Data You can save the basic information, parameter values, and various settings displayed on each window to your PC. From the menu bar, select [File] > [Save As] to open the Save window. The [Save to PC] icon functions as [Save].

  • Page 29 Joystick model 4 Operating Joystick model 4.5.4 Parameter 1 The [Parameter 1] tab configures settings related to the driving characteristics of the wheelchair. Select either [Parameter setting way (Selection)] that uses preset values, or [Parameter setting way (Modification)] that allows you to customize parameters. 1 Selecting the Parameter Setting Method Select one of the three preset methods ([Soft], [Standard], or [Sports]) or [Modify and use] in the [Parameter setting way (Modification)] mode.
  • Page 30 Joystick model 4 Operating Joystick model 4.5.5 Parameter 2 The [Parameter 2] tab configures settings related to the operational characteristics of the joystick. If you want to individually change the parameters, you need to select [Modify and use] on the [Parameter 1] tab.

The area appears in black on the graph display on the Joystick Path Setting Window. The wheelchair does not move when the tilt of the joystick is inside the dead zone range.

Selecting [Tool] > [Open J/S path setting window] from the menu bar on the Driving Parameters window opens the Joystick Path Setting Window in a new window. 1 [Open] Icon This icon opens the data files saved to the PC.

    Joystick model 4 Operating Joystick model Print Print allows you to print the settings in the Driving Parameters window, as well as the diagnostic results in the Joystick Path Setting Window. Selecting the [Print] icon on each screen or [File] > [Print] from the menu bar opens Print Preview. When printing the settings on the Driving Parameters window, a window with entry fields for printing will be displayed.

When set to [Disable Auto-power-off], the power does not automatically turn off. 2 Buzzer This turns ON and OFF the sounds emitted by the buzzer when the power switch and the mode switch are operated.

Excluding [User weight], Mode 1 and Mode 2 setting values are not linked.

The % indicates the percentage with respect to the maximum power of the motor. As a general guide, decrease the assist motor power when the wheelchair is often used indoors or when the user is light in weight, and increase the assist motor power when the wheelchair is often used outdoors or when the user is heavy in weight.

The relationship between turning and going straight is inversely proportional. Increase the turning value (T-side value) when the wheelchair is often used to make sharp turns, and increase the straight value (S-side value) when deviation to the left or right is not desired.

Selecting [Read backup driving parameters from left unit] similarly loads the parameters of both units from the left wheel unit.

The distance is set to 0.51 m by default. When the data from automated diagnostics is saved to the PC, the numerical value at the time the [Draw] button is selected is saved.
