1 [Assist Motor Power]
This area is used to set the power assist levels for forward and reverse movement.
The % indicates the percentage with respect to the maximum power of the motor.
As a general guide, decrease the assist motor power when the wheelchair is often
used indoors or when the user is light in weight, and increase the assist motor power
when the wheelchair is often used outdoors or when the user is heavy in weight.
When settings are written with the assist motor power set to 0%, a confirmation
message appears.
When the software version of the unit is older than 5.00, the reverse assist motor
power setting is restricted as indicated below. An error message appears when an
attempt to set a restricted numerical value is made.
(a) A value of 60% or higher (except in the case of c)
(b) A value greater than the forward assist motor power
(c) The reverse assist motor power can only be set to 0% when the forward assist
motor power is 0%
2 [Assist Limit (up to)]
This area is used to set the upper speed limit for assist. When wheel speed is faster
than the set speed, motor assist is not performed.
3 [Coasting distance] (distance covered with one stroke)
This area is used to set the amount of assist with one stroke. The numerical value is
an approximate amount, given a [standard] value of 1.0. Set the Coasting Distance to
a smaller value when the wheelchair is often used for short distances such as indoors
or in a crowd, and to a larger value when often used outdoors.
4 [Response Level (Balance Adjustment)]
This area is used to set the left and right hand rim input sensitivity. The feature allows
you to increase the level when the user lacks strength and cannot provide adequate
input. It also allows you to adjust the balance when variance exists between left and
right arm strength.
Increasing the setting more than necessary can cause the wheelchair to jerk. Be sure
to adjust the setting a little bit at a time.
The Assist Motor Power setting affects travel on flat courses,
ascending hills, and descending hills. Change settings with careful
consideration of travel on ascending hills as well as deceleration
assist on descending hills.
