Note:
This procedure is only necessary if you are adding a drive. If you are
replacing a drive, proceed directly to Mount the Drive in the Library
on page 18.
You need to remove the tape cartridge backstops from the carousel to allow tapes to
pass through the tape slot and into the drive. The backstops are only on the upper frame
assembly of the carousel and are secured in place with two screws.
Go to the previously determined location for the new drive.

Note:
If a tape cartridge is in this slot, remove it now and set it aside. You
will need to reintroduce this tape into a different slot in the library
when this procedure is complete.
Use the #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the backstop

in place. Hold on to the backstop while removing the screws (Figure 11).
Caution:
Do not drop the backstop screws into the library; loose screws can
damage the library.
Save the backstop and screws in case you decide to remove the drive at a later
