3 Getting Started

This chapter will help you with the first steps with a LRF module.

3.1 Unpacking

Open the packaging and carefully pull the module out of the foam packaging without damaging the optical
fibre. Check cleanliness of the module and carefully remove any particles.
WARNING
Be careful with the fiber: The optical fiber of the LRF module is very sensitive to harsh bending,
especially in proximity to the pigtail. The minimum bending radius of the fiber is 5 mm.
NOTICE
Be careful with ESD:
The LRF module is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Do not touch any electronics or components
unless protective measures are applied.
The packaging consists of a cardboard box and PE-LD-E-X packaging foam. Dispose it according to your
local regulations.

3.2 First steps with the LRF 6019

We recommend using an Interface Kit (Article Number 914752) to run a LRF 6019 with a PC. In this kit a
USB-power supply cable and an interface cable with Samtec Connector are included. These two cables
have to be joined together via the blue Dubox connectors. The Samtec connector has to be plugged into
the Samtec system connector of the LRF. The USB connector is connected to a USB port of the PC. To
run the LRF 6019, power (3.3 - 15 V) has to be provided via the red (+ pole) and black (- pole) pin plugs.
Do not use the switch with red protective cover as it has no function for the LRF 6019.
