CAUSE CHECK
Installation Verify the combustion air intake and ue gas exhaust terminations are protected from
wind e ects. For sidewall terminations verify they are covered with a tee or 90 degree
elbow, terminations should not directly point sideways.
Verify a negative pressure is not present in the boiler room. The boiler room must be at a
neutral pressure relative to the outdoors.
Where an exhaust overdraft damper is installed:
· Verify the opening speed is su cient to prevent a pressure spike in the exhaust vent
when the boiler cycle starts or ends.
· Verify the damper is not installed too close to the boiler ue outlet connection.
· If issues persist, lock the overdraft damper into the fully open position and observe
if air switch alarms continue. If air switch alarms do not reoccur while the damper
is locked into the full open position, contact the draft control provider for further
troubleshooting instruction.
Boiler/Maintenance Verify the combustion blower is operating properly. If the blower requires a power cycle to
start, refer to blower troubleshooting steps.
Inspect the ue gas vent and condensate drain for obstructions. A partially obscured ue
gas vent may not always trip the blocked exhaust switch but can cause manifold to drop
due to drop in combustion air ow which can trip the air switch during run.
Controller/Settings Verify manifold pressure and air damper combustion settings are su cient at all points to
satisfy minimum air switch pressure.
Electrical/Wiring Verify wiring to/from the Air Switch, ensure terminals are tight and wires are secure.
