6.7 BREW GROUP REBUILD GUIDE
6. DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN THE LOWER PISTON ASSEMBLY (LPA)
6.1
6.1 Place the BGA on the counter (upside down) and remove the Lower Piston Assembly (LPA) by loosening the two
cotter pins, and gently pulling the sides of the BGA housing apart and pulling upward on the LPA. If necessary, place
pins in water to remove coffee build-up.
TOOL: 3mm Allen wrench
TIP: If there is a great deal of excess coffee build-up and the LPA preventing it from easily coming out,
pour a small amount of water solution into cotter pin groves to free-up the pins
TIP: If necessary use a slight rocking motion to remove LPA from housing.
6.2 If necessary, remove coffee build-up from LPA using a toothbrush or a screwdriver

CAUTION: Do this gently as not to damage parts.
6.3 Remove the lower piston from the LPA by turning it up the auger shaft using a 3mm Allen wrench inserted into the
gear box of the of the LPA (bottom of the mounting plate)
TOOL: 3mm Allen wrench

6.4 Remove the shower screen by unscrewing the screw on the end of the piston. Place in water solution
TOOL: Screwdriver
6.5 Remove piston head from piston shaft by unscrewing 3mm Allen screws
TOOL: 3mm Allen wrench
6.6 Remove O-ring from lower piston by inserting a screwdriver in the O-ring groove and "popping" the O-ring out of
the groove
6.7 Place lower piston head in water solution to remove any excess coffee build-up
