Batch control informs the OS signaling system about all operator actions and
status changes during the running time of the batch. This makes it possible to
track the execution of a batch with the aid of BATCH messages in the OS
message window.
Message numbers are reserved in the OS signaling system for BATCH
flexible. If no messages have as yet been provided there, batch control will
look after this at startup. The OS_MELD_OFFSET system variable described
at the end of Chapter 3 must be taken into consideration in the message
