Seat Switch

Purpose

The seat switch is in the safety circuit. If the engine is
running and the operator vacates the seat with either
the PTO engaged or the parking brake disengaged, the
engine will shut down.
Note: There is a delay module in the system; there
will be a slight delay before the engine shuts
down after the operator vacates the seat.

Location

The seat switch is located under the seat in the rear
right hand corner of the compartment (Fig. 525). If the
machine is equipped with the optional deluxe seat, the
seat switch is mounted under the seat.

How It Works
When the seat is vacated, the switch is open and there
should be NO continuity between the two terminals.
When the seat is occupied, the switch closes and there
should be continuity between the two terminals (Fig.
526).

Testing

1. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness.
2. Using a VOM or test light, check first to ensure there
is no continuity between either terminal, plunger out.
3. With the plunger pushed in, there should be contin-
uity between the terminals.
