34. NIBP Measurement
The NIBP blood pressure cuffs should only be used for blood pressure measurement. Proper
placement of the cuff and size selection is critical to achieving accurate readings. Use only a
Vetland NIBP cuff with the V1410 / V1412. Other NIBP cuffs may cause improper performance
due to tubing diameter or bladder compliance not meeting specifications.
WARNING
Do not restrict or occlude the NIBP line.
Store and use the hose properly.
A patient's movement during measurement may cause inaccurate results.
Do not use with any other respiration equipment. Choose the cuff type which is appropriate to
the patient.
The NIBP module has an auto-calibration feature which is designed to sense the ambient
atmospheric air pressure every 0.5 seconds whenever the patient monitor is turned on.
CAUTION
(Attention: Any excessive or unnecessary pressure on the NIBP hose and NIBP cuff during
power up may influence the measurement value. In the case of an inaccurate auto-calibration
at power up, the unit will need to be powered off and back on to reset the auto calibration
correctly.
In the event a good blood pressure reading is not recorded on the initial cycle, the monitor will
attempt a second reading. If this fails, the unit will revert to standby mode. Check the BP line and

cuff condition as well as size and placement.
