Incorrect rotation.
Oil level too high

Entrained air when unloaded.
Loose flywheel or pulley
Broken valve plates
Insufficient piston "top-dead-centre"
clearance.
Loose first stage piston rod or
crosshead locknut.
Piston or crosshead seizure
Loose big-end bolts or small end
bearing
Loose foundation bolts
Anti-vibration mounts incorrectly set

Compressor not level.
Delivery flange not aligned with

RECOMMENDATION
Fill to maximum level
Check and tighten
Replace as necessary

Check for closed isolating valves.
Check operation of pneumatic water
valve and thermostatic water valve.
Check power supply to water pump
and drive.
Air lock in water system.
Restriction of air flow to radiator cooled
units. Recirculation of cooling air flow
with radiator units. Too high ambient
temperature for radiator cooler.
Correct as 'leading particulars' section.
Replace
Check, clean, replace as necessary.
Check and reverse as necessary.
Correct level to maximum only.
Check oil grade and renew with
CompAir recommended oil.
Check piston rod gland wear.
Check by manually operating
interstage safety valves.
Check key seats for belt drive pulleys.
Check all valves-interstage safety
valve immediately after problem valve
may be blowing.
Check piston clearance is within limits.
Remove cylinder head and check
security.
Check for free movement of pistons. If
seizure then replace.
Check security of bolts and clearance
in small end bearing.
Check security and tighten.
