7.10 Installation Procedure
Remove the cover from the connection box on the electric motor.
Open the control panel to gain access to the terminals on the control devices.
Make sure the power supply to the compressor is taken from the fused isolating switch and that the
switch is locked OFF and the fuses removed.
Connect the power supply to the starter and the starter to the compressor motor. Make appropriate
connections to the "no volt" side of the starter. Use cables which comply with the standards of the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) suitably protected and clamped.
Refit the motor connection box cover and close control panel door.

Storage Procedures
All Reavell oil lubricated compressors are inhibited against corrosion for an extended period. Oil free
units are stored with desiccant included.
Similarly any compressor taken out of service must be protected against corrosion. The rate at which
storage corrosion occurs is dependent upon the local humidity which makes a recommended maximum
safe storage period impossible to state.
In general the compressor should be stored in a dry building, preferably heated. In winter conditions
wherein the ambient temperature falls below zero excessive contraction (i.e. slackening bolts) should
be monitored.
7.12 Storage before Installation
Inspect the crate for damage and no water in the packing or on any part of the compressor or protective
plastic packing. if there is any evidence of moisture, dry out damp areas and ensure that the packing
and covering is dry before replacing.
For the 5280D oil free unit if the compressor is stored in high humidity, a desiccant pack should be
placed in each cylinder and distance piece, which must be renewed every 6 months.
