2.2.5 Machine configuration
In the machine configuration menu, the following application specific parameters can be set:
Parameter
Control
CNT - Continuous : the compressor motor runs
continuously from the start command until the stop
command. The unloaders will be controlled by the
measured pressure and the programmed load and
unload levels.
AUT - Automatic: this operation mode is essentially
the same as the continuous control but with the
addition of a run on timer. If the compressor runs
unloaded for a specified time( programmed in 'run on
timer') then the motor will stop until the pressure drops
below the programmed load level, when it will
automatically restart
Run on timer
The amount of time the motor keeps on running with
the compressor in the unloaded mode before it stops.
Auto restart
Automatic restart of the machine after a power failure
if the compressor was running before it occurred. The
compressor will restart after the blowdown time
setting. For multi m/c installations vary blowdown
setting times by 5 seconds to stagger starts
Start control
Selection between local start / stop control or remote
start / stop control through a digital input. ( Switch
poweroff /on or operate remote to activate)
Press. Ctrl.
Selection between local load / unload control or
remote load / unload control through a digital input. (In
remote, unload will unload compressor and load will
give normal control by system pressure)
Machine nr
Address of the controller in an RS485 network..
Important note: It is always possible to stop the machine locally when remote start / stop function is
enabled.
2.2.6 Regulating settings
While the compressor is running loaded, the variation in rate of rise and fall of pressure will be used to
control the full load solenoid valve. If the pressure still rises in the ½ load condition it will rise until it reaches
the unload level. The compressor will then work off load until the pressure falls to the load level again.
Parameter
P factor
This proportional control factor determines how much
the control will react to momentary differences between
actual and target pressure. (equivalent to inverse
damping)
I factor
This integral control factor determines how much the
control will react to accumulated differences (over time)
between actual and target pressure. ( equivalent to
hysteresis or deadband)
The setting of the above factors will depend upon the number of compressors, the size of the air receivers
and on the change in demand for air. For best results the P factor should be 3 –5 times the I factor.
Generally if there is a large pressure swing and the compressor reacts too late then reduce I factor and if
the compressor changes load condition rapidly with small changes in pressure then reduce P factor.
