FUNCTIONAL CHECKS (cont. ....)
8.2.4-Start the compressor and check oil pressure.
Note: the oil filter is efficient and during start up may cause a noticeable drop in indicated oil
pressure. This normal and the pressure can re-established by turning the oil pump filter handle
clockwise through one turn
8.2.5-Allow the compressor to run for about 30 minutes unloaded.
8.2.6-Check oil pressure settles at 2 bar g when operating temperatures are reached.
8.2.7-Stop the compressor. Switch OFF power supply at the isolator and remove fuses.
8.2.8-Connect air delivery manifold flange to user's pipework or air receiver.
8.2.9-Remove crankcase doors and crosshead access doors to inspect bearings for signs of
overheating. Check the security of the big end cap bolts and piston rod nuts. Replace the doors.
8.2.10-Start the compressor and run on load until full temperature is reached (approximately 20
minutes from cold) and allow pressure to build up to just below the cut-out value.
8.2.11-Check all interstage pressures.
8.2.12-Check the switching of the thermometer. See Leading Particulars for settings.
8.2.13-Check the setting of the air pressure switches.
Check that the low oil pressure protection switch is set to 1 bar g.
Check that the oil regulating valve is set at 2 bar g.
