INFORMATION
In case of a pronounced flexion position of the residual limb, the lower corner of the frontal area can develop a
large bulge. Use a knife to cut away this corner so that a smooth surface results.

6.1.7.3 Checking the Plaster Negative

32 | Ottobock
Fill the frontal and dorsal bulges in the plaster negative
with mixed plaster.
Carry out additional modelling above the trochanter
major and the dorsal-lateral areas.
Reduce the circumference by 3 % – 5 %.
Deepen the formed channel in the adductor area so
that the patient does not perceive pressure in this area.
Smooth the surface and finely sand it with wet sanding
paper until the model is ready for the trial fitting.
Check the plaster negative.
