Matrix Mode

Matrix Mode allows you to set up the system to read an array of symbols within a matrix using
individual Regions of Interest ROIs for each code. This results in higher speed and higher decoding
reliability than using a single region of interest for all symbols. Additionally, Matrix Mode can be set to
decode from 1 to 400 individual symbols, while a single ROI is limited to 100 symbols. Finally, Matrix
Mode simplifies sorting and output of data in user-specified order.
A 5 x 6 array is shown below.
Recommendation for Successful Use of Matrix Mode: When setting up Matrix Mode, you can
initially set the Cycle to Continuous Mode so the system constantly reads and updates. This provides
real-time feedback on how ROI or imaging adjustments affect decoding. Cycle can also be set to
Trigger, in which case you can enable virtual triggers to send a constant stream of triggers to the system.
Note: When setting up a matrix to look for a large number symbols, you may want to increase the Cycle
Timeout to a high value while setting up the grid to ensure the reader has sufficient time to decode all
cells. The overall cycle time is shown in the reports on the right side of the screen so you can determine
the actual amount of time the matrix will require.
