3.5 Safety equipment
The STERIclave B features the following safety equipment:

Function
The sterilisation chamber can only be
opened when the chamber is depressu‐
rized.
Safety valve: The safety valve will re‐
lease pressure once a value in excess of
2.6 bar is reached.
Decompression valve: If the pressure in‐
side the chamber exceeds 2.4 bar, the
valve will open and an acoustic signal will
sound at the same time to warn of de‐
fective operation. "ALARM 16" will ap‐
pear on the display.
The temperature inside the chamber is
controlled in such a way that it will never
exceed the maximum limit of 137°C. An
additional protection mechanism will
switch in if the temperature reaches
150°C.
The chamber will be vented automatical‐
ly in the event of a power failure. "BLACK
OUT" will appear on the display when the
mains supply is restored.
The STERIclave will shut down automa‐
tically 30 minutes after coming to the end
of its programme if the door has not been
opened or any button pressed during this
time.
