Two differential zones are available in the IED and the connecting of the two zones is simply
controlled via zone interconnection logic, as described in Section
transfer)". In practice, the closed position of the sectionalizer shall start the zone
interconnection logic inside the IED. All other thinks (that is, tripping) will automatically be
arranged.
6.1.4.4
Single busbar arrangements with bus-section breaker
This arrangement is very similar to the single busbar arrangement. The bus-section breaker
allows the operator to split the station into two separate buses under full load. The
requirement for busbar protection scheme is that the scheme must have two independent
differential zones, one for each busbar section. If there is an internal fault on one of the two
sections, bus-section circuit breaker and all feeder circuit breakers associated with this
section have to be tripped, leaving the other busbar section in normal operation.

This type of busbar arrangement can be quite easily protected. The most common setups for
this type of station are described in the following table.
