10.1 Getting the IP Address from the EtherCAT Master

The module requires an IP address if IP-based communication is to be used. This is the
case, for example, if the WAGO I/O Field Webserver or the OPC UA server of the module
is used. The module has no IP address when delivered. The module gets the IP address
from the EtherCAT
The module does not need an IP address if it is to communicate with the master exclu-
sively via EtherCAT
Setting the IP address for the Module for the EtherCAT
You can set the IP address for the module in the configuration software of the EtherCAT
master, e.g., TwinCAT. To do so, create a configuration project as described in section

Configuring EtherCAT

1. Open the configuration software of the EtherCAT
2. Open the window with the EtherCAT
3. Open the advanced settings.
4. Select Mailbox > EoE (Ethernet over EtherCAT).
ð The window for setting the IP address (for the module) is displayed.
5. Enter the IP address, the subnet mask and the IP address of the default gateway
(typically the default gateway is the IP address of the EtherCAT
6. Load the configuration onto EtherCAT
