Physical Installation Steps

To install an ONT, complete the following steps in the order in which they appear.

NOTICE!
The ADTRAN 424RG and 434RG ONTs must sit upright using the stand provided. DO NOT
lay the ONT flat, as the ONT may overheat.
2.3.4.1

Step 1: Attach the 424 or 434 ONT to the Base and Connect Fiber

Ensure the ONT is not located in direct sunlight and is not located next to any thermal obstruc-
tions.

1. Position the ONT on the base.
2. Using the screw(s) provided, secure the base to the ONT.
3. Thread the fiber cable through the opening in the base. If there is excess fiber, carefully

NOTE
Fiber connectors are prone to contamination from dirt. To avoid any potential problems, using
standard fiber optical cleaning techniques, clean the fiber end before plugging it into the 
SC/APC connector.
4. Remove the dust cover from the SC/APC Connector and insert the fiber cable. Retain
