CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION (Cont'd)
DIAGNOSIS CODE DETECTION DRIVING PATTERN
Purpose of the driving patten.
(a) After the diag. code is erased, the malfunction is reproduced and the diag. code is recorded again.
(b) To check that the malfunction is cleared once the repair is completed (confirm that diag. code is no
longer detected).
Malfunction: Deterioration of Main Oxygen Sensor
For A/T Vehicle
(1) Start engine and warm engine up.
(2) After engine is warmed up, let it idle for 3 min.
(3) With the A/C ON and the transmission in D range (O/D ON), perform gradual acceleration with in
the range 1,800–2,200 rpm (Centered around 2,000 rpm).
(Take care that the engine speed does not fall below 1,200 rpm when shifting. Gradually depress
the accelerator pedal and kept it. Steady so that engine braking does not occur.)
(4) Keep vehicle speed below 60 mph.
(5) Stop the vehicle, then 10 sec. or more after turning IG switch to OFF (not Acc), perform (1), (2),
(3), (4) again.
For M/T Vehicle
(1) Start engine and warm engine up.
(2) After engine is warmed up, let it idle for 3 min.
(3) With the A/C ON and vehicle speed approx. 35 mph, shift into 4th gear and gradually accelerate
so that engine speed does not drop below, 1,500 rpm (Keep the accelerator pedal position
constant to avoid engine braking).
(4) Keep vehicle speed below 60 mph.
(5) Stop the vehicle, then 10 sec. or more after turning IG switch to OFF (not Acc), perform (1), (2),
(3), (4) again.
NOTICE:
If the conditions in this test are not strictly abserved, detection of the malfunction
will not be possible.
