Chapter 2: Installing the CSMIM2
If you exceed these recommended cable lengths, you must

compensate for any resulting problems by reducing the baud
rate, using low capacitance cable, etc. Exceed these distances
at your own risk.

POWER-UP AND TEST

Apply power (insert into MMAC).
The CSMIM2 now runs its ROM-resident power-up diagnostics. The
indicators momentarily light and then turn off, except for the Ethernet
Segment indicator (by default B).

Set the CSMIM2 into Set Up mode (S/U LED on).
Press the Set Up switch on the front panel. The S/U indicator lights
when the unit enters Set Up mode.
You must press the Set Up switch within 3 seconds of either
NOTE
powering-up or Reset to enter Set Up mode.
Next, the CSMIM2 runs diagnostic tests causing the Traf indicator to
flash. If the diagnostics complete successfully, the Stat and Attn
indicators light, and the ROM Monitor prompt (
the terminal. The tests complete in approximately one minute. If the
prompt appears, go to Step 3.
If the Stat and Attn indicators do not light within one minute or if the
indicators flash, a hardware failure has occurred. Contact Cabletron
technical support.
