Do not heat empty pots and pans as these can be damaged through overheat-
ing. At high temperatures you may hear a buzzing sound; this is due to the
technology. It does not represent a fault in your hob or in the product.
The diameter of the base of the pot or pan must match the size of the cooktop
on the induction hob. If the base diameter is too small, in particular, it may be
the case that the hob's magnetic field is not activated.
Tips for use
Use plenty of oil/fat at first – this means that later, you will need much less.
In the course of time, the slightly porous structure of the iron absorbs more
and more fat. This leads to the formation of a natural protective coating (pati-
na) from within.
Always select a hotplate with a diameter that matches that of the base of the
pan as closely as possible. If you use a hotplate with a smaller diameter, the
heat will be concentrated only in the area of the pan that lies on the hotplate.
The base of the pan can then become deformed in this area. Cast iron frying
pans are not suitable for use with acidic foodstuffs (e.g. wine, citrus fruits etc.)
Cleaning and care instructions
After use, clean the frying pan with clean hot water. Only use washing-up
liquid in exceptional cases. Never wash the frying pan in a dishwasher. Use a
cloth to thoroughly dry the frying pan. Finally rub a little edible oil on the inside
and outside of the frying pan to avoid corrosion and store the frying pan in a
dry place.
A mostly brown patina with natural anti-stick properties forms more and more
through correct frying. This is supposed to happen. As a result, light iron pans
turn brownish over time; the original black color of pans that have been pre-
burned will turn brown. This discoloration of the pan surface is unavoidable
and does not constitute a ground for complaint.
