Customer Responsibilities

Before the system can be installed, the system site must comply with the specifications outlined in the Site
Preparation Guide, which can be found at the following URL: http://docs.hp.com or on the Customer CD-ROM
that came with the system.
The service and installation requirements for any peripheral equipment to be installed with the system
should also be taken into consideration before the installation process gets under way. Refer to the
appropriate manual for each peripheral being installed.

Customer Engineer Responsibilities

The CE is responsible for verifying that the site has been prepared for the Superdome, making sure that the
site is properly grounded and that the power requirements have been met. In general, the CE is responsible
for unpacking, installing the Superdome in the computer room (including installing the optional Support
Management Station, sometimes called a teststation), powering on and booting each configured partition to
the HP-UX prompt, and cleaning up the installation site.

Accepting the Equipment

The customer should oversee the arrival of the equipment, including checking the inventory and moving the
equipment to the final installation location.
The customer and the field engineer should inspect the equipment when it is unpacked and inventory the
equipment with the Sales Order Packing Slip or the customer's Bill of Material. It is the customer's
responsibility to obtain and complete a damage claim form from the shipping representative if the system has
been damaged. Refer to "Inspecting the Shipping Containers for Damage" on page 13 for more information on
checking the inventory.
