3. After centering the piston pin and special tools in the piston pin
bore, remove the piston pin/tool assembly from the piston.
4. Set the piston over the connecting rod so that the crankshaft oil
slinger is to the right of the connecting rod with the "Δ" mark on
the piston head pointing toward you as shown.
5. Make sure the piston pin and special tools are centered as
shown in step 2. If not centered properly, the piston pin may
catch on the edge of the piston pin bore during assembly.
6. Apply oil to the piston pin and assemble the piston pin with the
special tools attached as shown.
7. With the timing belt drive pulley up, align the piston pin hole with
the connecting rod hole and insert the special tool guide into the
piston pin hole.
8. Set the cutout part of the piston base special tool in the
clearance between the connecting rod and the piston as shown.
Be sure the connecting rod small end is securely set in the cutout
of the piston base special tool.
9. Press-fit the piston pin into the connecting rod using a hydraulic
press.
Press-fit the piston pin until the piston pin is 1.5 mm above the
piston.
10. Remove the special tools from the piston pin.

11. After assembling the piston pin, move the connecting rod from
side to side and make sure that the gap from the piston pin end
to the piston end is equal at the right and left sides.
12. If the right and left gaps are not equal, raise or lower the piston
pin as needed.
