Primary Calibration

Performs a primary calibration on your system rather than a regular calibration which is
done using the Calibrate Key.
4-10 | Thermox CG1000 Oxygen Analyzer
Always try to do a regular calibration before resorting to a primary cali-
bration except when you install a new cell. If a regular calibration doesn't
work correctly, see the Calibration Checks section in the Trouble-
NOTE
shooting chapter for possible calibration setup problems affecting the
calibration. If you have performed these checks and the system still can't
be properly calibrated you should perform a primary calibration.
A primary calibration is only necessary when:
• replacing the zirconium oxide oxygen cell, or
• the system fails a regular calibration.
Setting Up a Primary Calibration
Make sure you have properly entered your calibration gas values
using the Cal Gas Values option from the Calibrate Key before
starting your primary calibration.
NOTE
1. From the Setup Key, select Primary Calib.
2. If you have the auto calibration card option (and a remote calibra-
tion unit), you will be prompted to select Auto Calibrate, Remote
Calibrate, or Manual Calibrate. If you don't have the auto calibration
option, you will default to a manual calibration and be instructed to
inject your span gas into the calibration gas inlet port. From this point,
operations continue as they do for a regular calibration.
3. Once the primary calibration is complete, the system will display a
Calibration Required message.
-
Oxygen readings on the display will not be accurate until the regular
calibration is performed.
-
A 15-minute recovery time follows the primary calibration to allow
the cell to stabilize.
-
Wait an additional 45 minutes, then perform a regular calibration
During the recovery time immediately following the primary calibration,
you may see temperature-related error messages. Ignore these messages.
The cell temperature is adjusted after a primary calibration.
