Flow Connections

If your carrier gas is helium, the sample gas must flow through the analyzer
at a rate between 150 and 200 sccm (standard cubic centimeters per min-
ute). For all other carrier gases (nitrogen, carbon dioxide or argon), the flow
rate must be between 125 and 175 sccm. Nitrogen is the default selection
and is used for most applications. If measuring close to 100% oxygen, select
nitrogen as the carrier gas. You must tell the CG1000 analyzer which carrier
gas is being used for the flow sensor to properly determine the flow rate.
See the "Display" section in Chapter 4 for help on how to view the flow
rate of gases from the front panel display. See the "Carrier Gas" section in
Chapter 4 for help on how to select the carrier gas in software. See Figures
3-2 and 3-3 for flow diagrams for the CG1000.
If using the analyzer without the optional pump, the sample gas must enter
the CG1000 at a pressure between 15" water column (H
1380 millibar gauge). The minimum pressure requirement of 15" water column
allows for any minor pressure drops within the analyzer sample inlet connec-
tions to ensure a 150 sccm flow rate through the sensing cell (Figure 3-3).
For pressure below 15" water column, you must use the pump option. If
you find that you need the optional pump after you receive your CG1000
analyzer, you can purchase this option later. If using the optional built-in
pump, the pressure of the sample gas can range from negative 10" water
column (H
