DATA ETHERNET

The Ethernet ports can be regarded as application layer entities in an HL950. The Ethernet ports use
all of the services provided by the underlying AAL, ATM and physical layers in the HL950.
The AAL layer provides circuit emulation services, the ATM layer provides the end-to-end virtual
connection service and the SHDSL physical layer provides the transport for the ATM VCCs over the
copper pair links.
The DATA ETHERNET interface can be mapped to a DATA WANAAL5 interface for bridging or
for IP routing services. An IFNAME (interface name) is provided so that a configuration record can be
mapped to each Ethernet port.
For detailed information about prefixes and parameters for the INTERFACE DATA ETHERNET
command, see section 6.5.2.
4.5.3.1
Typical DATA ETHERNET Examples
To configure the DATA ETHERNET interface, perform the following steps (default values are
underlined):
1. Set the DATA ETHERNET interface for using static IP:
HL950> set interface data ethernet:if=eth<0|1>, ip=<ipaddr>,
mask=<mask>;
HL950> save (to store the interface configuration)
2. Show all DATA ETHERNET ETH interfaces:
HL950> show interface data ethernet
3. Start the DATA ETHERNET interface:
HL950> start interface data ethernet:if=eth<0|1>;
HL950> save (to store the auto-start configuration)
