5.14 UCB (Universal Control Board) Software Upgrade

This section provides details for upgrading the IQ3X Metal Detection System software.
The following files are required and are available from Loma Systems.
UCB_MBDL_V5_RC.srec - This file contains the operating software for the metal detector. The s in
the file name signifies that it can be installed on systems that only have 2 x 2 MB (4 MB) flash ROMs
fitted in positions U1 and U2 on the Control Board.
The Xs used in the file names above have been used to substitute the version
numbers. So for example the current GUI software version is UCB_MBDL_V5_RC.srec
at the time of writing this document.
1. Power ON machine
2. Connect microUSB cable between UCB and PC (yellow)
3. Switch ON "C" and "P" switches on UCB DIP switch (red)
4. Press reset button S1 (blue)
5. One LED is still ON and one LED diode must blink fast (green)
6. UPLOAD_DISC should appear on PC - delete UCBxxxxx file
7. Copy new file to UPLOAD_DISC
If LED is not blinking, please check switches again and press restart button
If UPLOAD_DISC is not visible, check USB cable and ensure that LED is blinking fast
