Safety Catch with dilator has been retracted a few centimeters (2 4 cm),
blood should appear in the proximal part of the sheath, verifying that the
sheath is in the artery.
notE: If no blood appears, retraction may be disrupted. Reintroduce the
di lator and then the sheath into the artery and repeat the steps from 3.
4. Deploy the Inner Seal by pressing down the button completely in one
continuous movement (see figures 5a, 5b).
Caution: If deployment of the Inner Seal meets unexpected resistance,
discontinue the procedure.
5. Pull back FemoSeal
figure 6).
Caution: For correct deployment of Inner Seal, reposition your thumb so
that the button can spring back freely.
notE: The button springs back once the Inner Seal makes contact with the
inside of the arterial wall and a resistance is generated.
notE: The Inner Seal brings about the hemostasis.
6. Deploy the Outer Locking Disc by completely pressing down the but-
ton once again (see figure 7).
Caution: Ensure that the tip of the sheath of FemoSeal
the skin surface before deployment of the Outer Locking Disc. The Outer
Locking Disc may inadvertently be deployed above skin level in patients with
a short distance between the femoral artery and the skin level. For correct
deployment, a skin incision may be necessary before deployment.
notE: a steep puncture angle shortens the distance between the femoral
artery and the skin level.
notE: keep a slight tension in the multifilament during deployment of the
Outer Locking Disc until the button is completely pressed down. This step
locks the Inner Seal against the arterial wall.
Caution: If the Inner Seal is inside the artery, but it is not possible to fully
depress the button and deploy the Outer Locking Disc, surgery may be
required to remove FemoSeal
