Cabinet Design and EMC
14.4 Arrangement of Components and Equipment
The components in the drive line-up must be properly connected to the external heat sink.
In the case of Active Line Modules above 55 kW, the Motor Modules can be mounted at the
right or left. This applies only to Active Line Modules with order numbers ending in 0, 1 or 2.
The Motor Modules can be mounted on the right and / or left with Smart / Active Line
Modules of 16 kW and higher with order numbers ending in 3 (6SL xxxxxxx 3) and with all
Basic Line Modules.
The components can be arranged in one or more tiers. In a multiple-tier arrangement,
vertical installation or, in a cabinet row, side-by-side installation in different cabinet sections
is possible.
To determine the cross-section, use the DC link busbar current carrying capacity given in the
relevant technical data.
We recommend that a minimum clearance of 150 mm is maintained between the line filter
and line reactor.
Multiple-tier configuration
Figure 14-3
The DC link bridges must be removed by unscrewing the M4 screws.
If, at the lefthand end of the drive line-up, there is a 50 mm wide Motor Module or a DC link
component of the appropriate width (e.g. Braking Module, CSM, VCM), then the DC link
bridge and all of the associated screws must be removed completely. It is not permissible to
insert the screws without a DC link bridge.
For all other power units and DC link components (e.g. Capacitor Module) that are wider
than 50 mm, it is not permissible to remove the DC link bridge.
If this is not carefully observed, this can result in damage and accidents.
Continuation of the DC link with the DC link adapter external to the components is achieved
using single-core, finely-stranded and shielded cables that are laid so as to ensure they are
short-circuit and ground-fault proof.
