4.4.3 Cable shielding connections

• The quality of the shielding connection to ground is decisive for the effectiveness of shielding. All shielding
connections must be "HF-tight", that is, coaxial, low-resistance and low-inductance
• Shielding should be run as close as possible to the device or the respective subassembly
• For IP54 versions of the VSD of frame sizes D...F, use metal
cable fittings as depicted here for the connection of shielded
cables (refer to Mounting Instructions for EMC cable fittings)
• For IP20 versions of the VSD of frame sizes A....C, we recommend to use the optional gland plates to improve
the connection of cable shielding to ground of the VSD
• Avoid pigtails when connecting shielding. Use EMC earthing clamps, cable clamps or shielding connection
clamps that ensure 360° contact (see illustration below)
