Gas Valve Properties and Tuning
The gas valve included in aiM
gas) and (G31) LPG. The maximum permitted temperature of operation is 60
comissioning in order for the valve to be correctly operating.
If the line electricity goes off, so the gas valve, and depending on the mechanical properties, it will take a
maximum of 1 second for it to be manually shut off. The same response will also be valid for any kind of
safety need in which the LMS 14 should shut the valve off.
Depending on its mechanical design the gas valve will let the outlet (downstream) pressure to reach the
50% in the first, to 75% in the first 2 and 100% in the first 5 seconds of the available gas downstream max
pressure.
modify the tunings by yourself or do not let anyone else to modify your gas valve settings. Only authorized
personnel is able to properly adjust the needed settings. There are two main adjustments that can be done
on the gas valve: The minimum and maximum capacity settings. These two settings are made by using two
different adjusting screws. For aiM 65 M/S and aiM 85 M/S models, one on the venturi and the other on
the gas valve, and for aiM 115-150 L/T models both on the gas valve.
4.3.1. aiM 65 M/S and aiM 85 M/S
For aiM 65 M/S and aiM 85 M/S models in order to make the maximum capacity adjustment, firstly the slot
headed screw on the venturi should be used. Turning in clockwise will reduce the gas-to-air ratio thus the
gas flow. The opposite increases the gas-to-air ratio thus the gas flow rate.
For minimum capacity adjustment the second operation is made on the gas valve whose purpose is to
parallel shift. As it is shown in the following image, in order to decrease the minimum capacity gas flowrate
turn the slot headed screw on the gas valve in clockwise direction. On the contrary, to increase turn it
counterclockwise. The boiler should be running at minimum fan speed such that this tuning sets the correct
minimum capacity adjustment.
