Standard Chimney Types and Designations
Chimney Code
Explanation
B23
Exhauts pipe from inside the shaft, fresh air direct suction from the boiler medium (open type)
B23
Twin cascade exhaust from inside the shaft, fresh air direct suction from the boiler medium
(open type)
B33
Exhaust pipe from inside the shaft, fresh air direct suction from the boiler medium, horizontal
concentric connection (open type)
B33
Horizontal concentric pipe connection to condensate proof chimney, fresh air from the boiler
medium (open type)
C13x
Horizontal concentric passage for inclined roofs (hermetic type)
C33x
Vertical concentric passage from inclined or horizontal roof (hermetic type)
C43x
Connection to condensate proof fresh air/exhaust shaft; maximum horizontal length from
boiler 1st elbow to shaft connection is 2m (hermetic type)
C53
Exhaust line from inside the shaft, fresh air from outside (hermetic type)
C53x
Exhaust line from outside the building, discharge terminal from the roof (hermetic type)
C83x
Exhaust line from inside the shaft, fresh air from outside (hermetic type)
C83x
Concentric connection to condensate proof chimney, fresh air from outside (hermetic type)
C93x
Exhaust line from inside the shaft to the roof, fresh air from the free shaft, horizontal
concentric connection (hermetic type)
The collector piping should be conversely inclined with the direction of exhaust because, the condensing
water in the piping should be drained via the condensate trap and the syphon. The system flue piping was
given in the fore-pages of the manual. As underlining, in order to be able to drain the condensate, exhaust
piping should be inclined uphill. There should exist a condensate syphon at the lower end of the collector
piping.
In a similar way, the terminal part of the exhaust gas piping which is faced with the outer atmosphere of
the building should be downwards inclined in order to prevent from rain water drainage. The slope should
be nearly 3 degrees.
Collector Dimensions and Information About Exhaust Piping Setup
In order to design and comission your own chimney system, the information you will need can be found at
the beginning of this book in Section 2.2. Technical Specifications.
