LDAP User Mappings

You can click LDAP User Mappings in the LDAP setup section to test LDAP searches, verify mappings
and specify the attributes to search for within the LDAP database. The LDAP test function will perform
the same search that would occur at the machine's control panel. It will base its search on the current
settings for Search Name Order (Mapped Name Field or the combination of Surname, GivenName, the
LDAP field currently Mapped to Common Name on the LDAP User Mappings page (if Search Order is
set to Mapped Name Field) and Custom Filters (if configured). The test page will return the first
matching search result for the test name entered and populate the LDAP Mappings drop down boxes
with all LDAP fields / attributes returned for that entry.
Note:
The device uses partial name searches, so searching for smit, will return Smith, Joe; Smithson,
John; etc. This can be overridden using custom filters.
1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of the printer in the address field. Press Enter to
open CentreWare Internet Services.
2. Click the Properties tab.
3. Enter the system administrator User Name and Password (default admin, 1111) if prompted.
4. Click the Connectivity folder, then the Protocols folder, then the LDAP folder.
5. Click LDAP User Mappings
6. To verify / change LDAP mappings, you must first perform a test search. In the User Name box,
enter a name or part of a name that is in LDAP and press the Search button.
7. If the search is successful, the drop down boxes in the Properties section and the Example of search
result column will get populated with the results. Change the Imported Headings drop downs to
match the LDAP field you wish to map to the associated property (Common Name, Email Address,
Business Phone, Office, Business Address, Home). If the search is not successful, verify LDAP
settings and try again.

Custom Filters

You can click Custom Filters in the LDAP setup section to customize LDAP searches. For the Email
Address Filter, in the box provided, type in the LDAP search string (filter) that you wish to apply. The
filter defines a series of conditions that the LDAP search must fulfill in order to return the information
you seek. The form of the typtext filesed search string (filter) is LDAP objects placed inside parenthesis.
In the search filter, LDAP should be used to specify the text entered by the user as the search criteria.
For example, to find all users with common name that starts with the search string entered by the user,
the filter would be (cn=LDAP*). If you are not familiar with LDAP search strings, use an Internet browser
search to find examples.
