Changing the ball bearings in the
bearing holder
Dismantling
1. Remove the five screws (28) and unscrew the
two screws (27) a couple of turns.
2. Fall the plate backwards to disclose the two
bearing holders.
3. Remove the three screws (26) to remove the
bearing holders.
4. Remove defective ball bearings from the bearing
holder.
CAUTION
Ball bearings that are removed in this way
become permanently damaged and may not
be refitted.
A. Position the bearing holder on two wooden
blocks, with the defective ball bearing facing
downwards. Make certain that there is about 5 cm
clearance underneath the bearing holder.
B. Slide the spacer sleeve inside the bearing holder
to one side.
C. Using a long cylindrical drift and a hammer, knock
out any defective ball bearings.
D. Replace the defective ball bearings.
Mounting
1. Use a press to fit the new ball bearings.
A. Press in the upper ball bearing so that its
upper edge is flush with the top of the bearing
holder.
B. Turn over the bearing holder, and place the
spacer sleeve (29) in the bearing holder.
C. Press in the lower ball bearing so that there is
a distance of 3.5 mm between the lower edge
of the bearing holder and the lower edge of
the ball bearing.
2. Fit the bearing holder with the three screws (26)
and tighten them with a torque of 15–20 Nm.
3. Fall the plate forward and fit the five screws
(28), and then tighten the two screws (27).
