States of communication

7.6.1

Pre-Operational

In state Pre-Operational the device can be configured and an access to the controller pa-
rameters via register range 600 - 652 is possible.
No parameters are mapped to the process data register.
7.6.2

Operational

With the transition Pre-Operational to Operational the cyclic communication is parame-
trized according to the set configuration values (mapping, cycle time, watchdog time). The
controller returns to state Pre-Operational automatically and sets bit 5 of the status word
in case of an error in configuration. In register 200 - 201 the corresponding error code can
be read.
In state Operational the mapped actual process data is written cyclically from the control-
ler to the Modbus register 2 - 65 and the mapped set process data is read cyclically from
Modbus register 100 - 165 and transfered to the b maXX parameters.
7.6.3

Switching of the state

With bit 0 of the control word the state switches from Pre-Operational to Operational and
vice versa.
With bit 0 of the status word the current state can be requested
7.7

Watchdogs

Watchdogs can be configured checking whether the actual values are read in time and
the set values are written in time via the Modbus.
Watchdogs are restarted in case of reading or writing to status and control word.
The status or control word must be read or written simultaneously with the process data
via function code Read multiple register or Write multiple register (FC3, FC16, FC23) in
order to monitor the process data transfer using this mechanism.
Control word bit 0 = 0 -> Pre-Operational
Control word bit 0 = 1 -> Operational
Status word bit 0 = 0 -> Pre-Operational
Status word bit 0 = 1 -> Operational
