9.7.3 Synchronous messages

As a result of dividing the network into multiple segments and the resulting delay of messages be-
tween the segments, there are limitations associated with synchronous transmission. The following
types of telegrams are affected:
DeviceNet
Message
Master simultaneously transmits 1 bit
Bit strobe
of output data to all participants.
Broadcast
One message is simultaneously

All participants are synchronized on a

simultaneously. Should therefore not be used
for synchronization purposes.

The message is transmitted to all partici-
pants. Participants in another segment, e.g.
segment 2, receive this telegram with a time
delay and are, thus, not synchronized with
the participants in segment 1.

time delay. This results in an error in the tim-
ing information:
