Heel height:
Effective heel height (shoe heel height – sole thickness of forefoot) + 5 mm

Frontal alignment:
Alignment reference line on a–p markings of the connection cap/footshell (see
fig. 1)

Sagittal alignment:
Alignment reference line on m–l markings of the connection cap/footshell (see
fig. 1)

Connect the prosthetic socket and prosthetic foot using the chosen adapters.
Be sure to follow the adapter instructions for use during adjustment and installation.

Sagittal alignment:
Determine the centre of the prosthetic socket with the 50:50 gauge.
Align the prosthetic socket centrally to the alignment reference line.
Socket flexion:
Residual limb flexion of the patient + 5°

Observe the abduction or adduction position.
TF bench alignment
► Observe the information in the prosthetic knee joint instructions for use.
5.1.3 Static Alignment
Use the L.A.S.A.R. Posture for static alignment optimisation of the prosthesis, if available.
If necessary, the alignment recommendations (TF modular leg prostheses: 646F219*, TT
modular leg prostheses: 646F336*) may be requested from Ottobock.
5.1.4 Dynamic Trial Fitting
Adapt the prosthesis in the sagittal plane (AP) and in the frontal plane (ML) by making angle
or slide adjustments so that correct heel contact, smooth roll-over and optimal weight transfer
onto the contralateral side are ensured.
With transtibial amputees, make sure that physiological knee flexion is achieved in the stance
phase.
Remove the adapter cover from the prosthetic foot after completion of the dynamic trial fitting
and gait training exercises.
5.2 Preparing and connecting the foam cover
The connection cap serves as a detachable connection between the cosmetic foam cover and
footshell, and snaps precisely into the proximal brim of the footshell.
Required materials and tools: 634A58 Isopropyl Alcohol, 636N9 Contact Adhesive or
>
636W17 Plastic Adhesive
1) Cut the foam cover to length according to the patient's measurements, allowing for distal
compression of about 1 cm for transtibial and of about 4 cm for transfemoral covers.
2) Pull the foam cover over the prosthesis.
3) Join the connection cap to the footshell and mount the prosthetic foot.
4) Mark the outer contours of the connection cap on the distal face of the foam cover blank.
5) Dismount the prosthetic foot and remove the connection cap from the footshell.
6) Clean the connection cap with isopropyl alcohol.
7) Glue the connection cap to the face of the foam cover as marked and allow the glued joint to
set (approx. 10 minutes).
8) Mount the prosthetic foot and adapt the exterior cosmetic cover shape. Take into account
compression due to cosmetic stockings or SuperSkin.
