3.5.4.6 Integrated Ionisation
3.5.4.6.1
General Information
Ionisation is an effective means of killing bacteria and algae, using copper or copper and silver charged particles. Ionisation has the
benefit of being very economical and allows treatment with low total chemical levels. Ionisation requires a remnant chemical for
oxidation. Consider using time daily control (3.5.4.1) for appropriate remnant chemicals.
The PoolCop has integrated ionisation functionality. The Ioniser Kit is required.
As a preventative measure, set Ioniser to OFF for new pools during the first 3 months of the pool's use. This
avoids any risk of an adverse reaction whilst the pool construction materials set and harden.

Ensure that the valve housing is depressurised and drained, by unscrewing the plug.
Removing the ioniser plugs from the housing or changing electrodes whilst there is pressure or a head of
water in the valve and piping can cause water to flood the Main Unit causing damage to the equipment.

ORP measurement and control is not compatible with copper or copper/silver ionisation.
Carry out regular water analysis to ensure correct and safe dosing levels.
There is a risk of flooding if the pump timer were to switch the pump ON.
There is a risk of flooding if the water supply is not confirmed as cut off.
