Diagnosis via status bits or the I/O diagnostic interface

The CPX terminal offers the two following modes for diag-
nosis, irrespective of the field bus node used:
Mode Description
Status bits The status bits serve for displaying com-
(system status) mon diagnostic messages (global error
messages). Access to the status bits is
made via 8 internal inputs (see section
5.2.1).
I/O diagnostic The I/O diagnostic interface is a bus-
interface independent diagnostic interface.
(system diagnosis) With this interface, all internal data and
parameters can be read out via 16 internal
inputs and 16 internal outputs. All diag-
nostic information is then also available
even if the field bus protocol used does
not offer any extensive diagnostic func-
tions (see section 5.2.2.).
