9. Put the bearing cap in position and tighten the
bolts to a torque of 300 N � � m (220 lb � � ft).
10. Remove the main bearing cap and measure the
Plastigage. The bearing clearance for new
bearings must be 0.025 to 0.075 mm (.001 to
.003 in.).
11. Put clean engine oil on the bearing and the
crankshaft journal.
12. Install main bearing cap (2). Tighten the bolts to a
torque of 300 N � � m (220 lb� � ft).
13. Do Steps 8 through 12 for the other main
bearings.

14. Measure the crankshaft end play. The end play
must be 0.15 to 0.325 mm (.006 to .013 in.).
15. Put clean engine oil on the connecting rod bolt
threads. Install all bolt one of the connecting rod
caps.
16. Use Plastigage to check the bearing clearance of
the connecting rods. Install connecting rod cap
(7) and tighten the to a torque of 180 N � � m (133
