10 Structure, function and maintenance standard
Function
This function allows the operator to select
q
proper engine torque and pump absorption
torque according to the type of work. Four
modes are provided: P, E, B and L. Using the
work mode switch on the monitor panel, the
operator is required to select one of them.
q The pump controller detects the speed of the
engine governor set with the fuel control dial
and the actual engine speed (N) and controls
them so that the pump will absorb all the
torque at each output point of the engine,
according to the pump absorption torque set in
each mode.

If the pump load increases and the pres-
q
sure rises, engine speed (N) lowers. At
this time, the controller lowers the pump
discharge so that the engine speed will be
near the maximum output point.
If the pressure lowers, the controller
increases pump discharge (Q) so that the
engine speed will be near the maximum
output point.
By repeating these operations, the con-
troller constantly uses the engine near the
maximum output point.
