your network may contain advanced features (such as a firewall or network domains),
consult a network administrator before connecting the QuantStudio
Systems to your laboratory network.

This appendix describes how to:
• Set up the QuantStudio
• Set up a computer for remote monitoring.
• Test the network connection by engaging the remote monitoring feature.

When the QuantStudio
computers on the network that are running the QuantStudio
Software can control or monitor it. The software can control up to 4 instruments and
monitor up to 10 instruments simultaneously. A networked system can be controlled
by only one computer at a time. A networked computer running the QuantStudio
Real-Time PCR Software can transfer experiments to and from an instrument, begin
or stop a run, and perform some maintenance functions. During a run, the Remote
Monitoring feature of the software can be used to view the run status, temperature,
and amplification data in real-time.
