3.10 Temperature Incubators

3.10.1

Ambient Incubators

Ambient Incubators are positioned in the lower part of the door. There are six lower incubator
locations, three in each door. The user is able to load plates when determined by the worklist
timeline into six plate loading slots from the front of the instrument which also function as
ambient shaking incubators. When the plate is complete the system returns it to the unloading
position so that the user can remove it.
The operating environment of the ambient incubator is designed to be no greater than the
laboratory ambient temperature + 3°C. The user can program the length of time for an
incubation operation.
The ambient incubators are capable of shaking at three speeds: low / medium / high. The
incubators shake for the duration of the incubation period or a set initial period. The ambient
temperature in the well during the shake will remain below ambient + 3°C.
Special custom configurations may be present to allow ambient incubation in incubators
housed at the upper level locations of each front door.
3.10.2

Elevated Temperature Incubators

As configured in the factory the system includes six elevated temperature incubators housed
at the upper level of each front door. Each door houses three elevated temperature incubator
compartments that are only accessible from the inside of the instrument (no operator access).
The system may be customized using the CTV tool to configure a different combination of
heated and ambient incubators. The heated incubators can be designated as ambient
incubators thus making a total of 12 ambient incubators available.
