Fn10 – Security
Enable use
limit cashbox? N
The service key can only be configured with Paytec Key Programmer.
If you wish to use the service key on the changegiver, you need to plug the Paytec Key Reader (accessory) on
connector J09/J10 (see p.12).
After the function has been activated, switch the changegiver OFF and ON again. Wait till the key reader is
ready for use and insert the service key "restore limit in cashbox". The value written on the service key is copied
on the changegiver, thus becoming the max. amount of money accepted by the changegiver and the system will
start accepting cash again.
Whenever some cash is inserted and accepted by the changegiver, this value is decremented. When this value
reaches "0" (zero), the changegiver will stop accepting cash again.
The audit identifier "DA-205" gives the residual amount before the limit in cashbox is reached.
When the limit in cashbox is reached, the message "LIMIT" is displayed on the LCD. The changegiver won't
accept any more cash until the service key "restore limit in cashbox" is inserted again. When inserting the key,
the message "CASH" is displayed (this means the system will accept cash again up to the max. value
programmed).
During the LIMIT condition (limit in cashbox reached), the changegiver will accept payments with user keys but
keys won't be recharged with cash.
Once this function has been activated, it can be only inhibited by resetting the changegiver memory.
Security ?
This function has been introduced to make PINs safer on keys: PINs are not even known to the servicing
staff (they can only be programmed with an Access key).
If you insert an Access key after this function has been enabled, system PINs are automatically updated with the
secret PINs on the key. PINs on all the user keys circulating must be updated with a key Programmer activated
with an Access key.
After the option "security" has been enabled, the system PIN can no longer be read/modified with Paytec
Configurator. PINs can only be read/modified with an Access key or with a P6000 (you need to know user codes,
though).
This option can be enabled either to modify the PIN of an already operating system, or to protect new systems
with PINs that are harder to decrypt.
Once Fn10 has been enabled, it can no longer be inhibited. If you wish to disable Fn10, you need to reset the
whole system (PINs are also reset).
N Standard. There is no limit to the amount of cash the changegiver can
accept.
Y Limit cashbox enabled. The changegiver can only accept cash up to a
max. value programmed with a dedicated service key (restore limit in
cashbox).
N Standard. PINs are controlled as usual (Access keys are not accepted).
Y The system is ready to accept an Access key and update PINs.
Warning: PINs on user keys are not automatically updated (they must be
updated at the operator's headquarters with a key Programmer).
