Replacing the pressure control valve

of the high-pressure rail

1. Remove the high-pressure rail from the installation
panel and take out of the test bench
(see section 6.33).
2. Clamp the high-pressure rail in a vise with soft jaws,
taking care not to damage the high-pressure rail.

3. Remove the pressure control valve (item 2).
4. Take out the sealing cone.
5. Insert a new sealing cone
(spare part: 1 683 387 112).
6. Before installation, apply a little oil to the thread of
the new pressure control valve.
7. Screw the new pressure control valve with O-ring (4)
into the mounting hole.
8. Tighten the pressure control valve to 70 Nm.
9. Slacken the pressure control valve again by 90°.
10. Tighten the pressure control valve to 85 +5 Nm.
11. Re-attach the high-pressure rail to the installation
panel and connect.

The following procedure is described for pressure
sensor B4 by way of example. When replacing pres-
sure sensor B1, proceed in the same way as descri-
bed for pressure sensor B4.

Removing pressure sensor B4

Have a cloth ready for catching and mopping up
calibrating oil.
1. Switch off the EPS 708 at the master switch.
2. Secure the master switch so that it cannot be swit-
ched back on.
3. Unplug the mains plug or disconnect from mains
electricity.
4. Check that there is no power.
5. Remove the cover of the hydraulics chamber
(see Fig. 7, item 1).
6. Remove the connecting cable from the pressure
sensor B4.
7. Remove both bolts (Fig. 138, item 1).
8. Pull pressure sensor (Fig. 138, item 2) out of the
sensor block (Fig. 138, item 3).
