Replacing the flywheel

Removing the flywheel

1. Turn off the EPS 708 at the master switch.
2. Secure the master switch so that it cannot be
switched back on.
3. Unplug the mains plug or disconnect from mains
electricity.
4. Check that there is no power.
5. Open the protective hood.
6. Cover the console (Fig. 80, item 3) to protect it from
damage.
7. Slacken the screws on the drive coupling (Fig. 80,
item 1) and remove the drive coupling (Fig. 80,
item 2).

8. Slacken the clamp bolts (Fig. 81, item 2) and, with
the aid of another person, remove the flywheel
(Fig. 81, item 1) (weight: approx. 15 kg) from the
motor axle.
9. Slacken the two M6 x 10 bolts on the back of
the flywheel and take the bearing set out of the
flywheel.

Installing the flywheel

Power transmission is achieved by pressure and
friction between the surfaces of the bearing set and
the shaft of the drive motor. Tighten the clamp bolts
in a controlled manner and note the appearance of
the contact surfaces.

Do not use oil with molybdenum disulphide for
oiling.
1. Clean the hub of the new flywheel and motor axle
and apply a little oil.

2. Insert the bearing set (item 1) in the hub of the
flywheel (item 2).
3. Rotate the bearing set so that the clamp bolts are
accessible from the end face of the flywheel.
4. Secure the bearing set with two hexagon socket
head bolts (M6 x 10) and spring washers.
5. With the aid of another person, push the flywheel
onto the motor axle as far as the stop.
