6. Switch on multimeter and set the direct-current
measuring mode.
7. Set the appropriate measuring range (> 900 mA)
on the multimeter (Fig. 158, item 4) at the highest
resolution (1 mA).
8. Place the multimeter at a readily visible location
in the test area of the EPS 708. The display of the
multimeter must still be readily readable with the
protective hood of the EPS 708 closed.
9. Close the protective cover.
10. Select "Main menu" <F11> in the dialog window.
11. Select softkey <F5>.
 The EPS 945 software performs initialization.
12. Following initialization, select the "Main menu" soft-
key <F7> in the dialog box.
13. Enter keyword: 1958 and confirm with <F12>.
14. In the "Configuration" dialog window, select menu
item "Calibration", submenu item "EPS708" and
open it by pressing <F12>.

Performing the current calibration
1. Select softkey <F8>.
 Error message "
EAV/DMV2 not adapt./de-
fect!
" is displayed.
2. Ignore the error message by pressing <F12>.
 In the ZME/DRV display, the current value
0.900 A is set.
3. Read off the current displayed on the multimeter.
4. Calculate the difference. Do this by subtracting the
current value read off the multimeter (e. g. 0.924 A)
from the current value in the ZME/DRV display (e. g.
0.900 A), e. g. 0.900 A - 0.924 A = -0.024 A.
5. Enter the calculated difference in milliamps, e. g.
-24, in the ZME/DRV input box. If this is a negative
value, you must also enter the minus symbol.
6. Select softkey <F4>.
7. Select <F4>, and confirm the prompt with <F12>.
i
Each time the difference changes, the value must be
saved again by pressing <F4>.
8. Correct the difference for ZME/DRV by increasing
or decreasing it in steps until the deviation between
the current value in the ZME/DRV display and the
current value on the multimeter is less than 2 mA.
9. Select softkey <F8>.

10. Open the protective hood of the EPS 708.
11. Switch adapter cable 1 684 460 291 to the EAV/
DMV2 plug of the connecting cable (X24).
12. Close the protective cover.
13. In input box EAV, replace the existing value with the
value "0".
14. Select softkey <F4>.
15. Select <F4>, and confirm the prompt with <F12>.
16. Select softkey <F8>.
 Error message "
DRV/DMV1/ZME not adapt./
defect!
" is displayed.
17. Ignore the error message by pressing <F12>.
 In the EAV display, the current value 0.900 A is set.
18. Read off the current displayed on the multimeter.
19. Calculate the difference. Do this by subtracting the

20. Enter the calculated difference in milliamps,
e. g. -24, in the EAV input box. If this is a negative
value, you must also enter the minus symbol.
21. Select softkey <F4>.
22. Select <F4>, and confirm the prompt with <F12>.

Each time the difference changes, the value must be
saved again by pressing <F4>.
23. Correct the difference for EAV by increasing or
decreasing it in steps until the deviation between
the current value in the EAV display and the current
value on the multimeter is less than 2 mA.
24. Select softkey <F8>.
25. Exit the configuration menu by pressing Esc twice.
26. Open the protective hood of the EPS 708.
27. Remove the common rail high-pressure pump, multi-
meter with connection cable and adapter cable from
the test area.
