Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and its circuit inspection
1) Confirm that terminal voltage and ground circuit continuity at
VSS connector terminals are in good condition referring to
Step 3 to 5 of "DTC P0500 Diag. Flow" in Section 6-2.
If not, repair VSS circuit.
2) Check that VSS signal voltage varies from low to high or
from high to low as specified voltage referring to Step 9 of
"DTC P0500 Diag. Flow" in Section 6-2.
If signal voltage varies as specified, VSS is in good condi-
tion.
If not, replace VSS.
Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) removal and installation
Refer to "Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Removal and Installation"
in Section 7A2.
Knock sensor removal and installation
Removal
1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2) Hoist vehicle.
3) Disconnect knock sensor connector (1).
2, (a) 4) Remove knock sensor (2) from cylinder block.
Installation
Reverse removal procedure for installation.
Tightening torque
Knock sensor (a): 22 N·m (2.2 kg-m, 16.0 lb-ft)
