Commissioning
This chapter gives instructions to commissioning your device, see Commissioning via local
display (Page 54).
Furthermore, the device can be commissioned using SIMATIC PDM, see Commissioning with
PDM (Page 341).
6.1
Basic safety notes
Loss of type of protection
Damage to device if the enclosure is open or not properly closed. The type of protection
specified on the nameplate or in Technical data (Page 123) is no longer guaranteed.
● Make sure that the device is securely closed.

Opening device in energized state
Opening device in energized state
Risk of explosion in hazardous areas. May cause death or serious injury.
● Only open the device in a de-energized state.
● Check prior to commissioning that the cover, cover locks, and cable inlets are assembled
Exception: Devices having the type of protection "Intrinsic safety Ex i" may also be opened in
energized state in hazardous areas.
6.2
General requirements
Before commissioning it must be checked that:
● The device has been installed and connected in accordance with the guidelines provided
in Installing/Mounting (Page 25) and Connecting (Page 29).
● Device installed in hazardous areas meets the requirements described in Use in hazardous
areas (Page 17).
